Want To Have Your Best Calisthenic (Or Other Type Of) Workout Ever? Imagine You’re ‘Strong As An Oak!’ Sounds Nuts, Works Great!

Calisthenic workouts burn fat, build lean attractive muscle, and develop great mental toughness; all in a single session. They draw deeply from your reserves, the longer you do them. They build speed and ‘explosiveness’ on the athletic field. They release natural opiates from the brain, and human growth hormone from the pituitary gland. They even cause you to sleep well; and wake up invigorated. The rewards are many.

So how can you have your best calisthenic workout ever?

Imagine you’re a force more powerful than yourself. Here’s how:

First, heed the words of William James (1842-1910): ‘There is a law in psychology that if you form a picture in your mind of what you would like to be, and you keep and hold that picture there long enough, you will soon become exactly as you have been thinking.’

Then, take action.

An example: I did a calisthenic workout this morning of 600 squats, push-ups, and crunches; all done in about 35 minutes. Toward the end of the routine, as I pushed myself to muscular and cardiovascular ‘failure,’ I imagined this…

My physical self, as strong and permanent as the concrete floor on which I exercised.

As I did my final set of push-ups, I literally pictured my arms, legs, and core, as being made of solid, permanent, immovable stone. I imagined the material coming up through the floor, through my hands and feet, and becoming one with my flesh. I thought of this happening, not in a negative way, but in one that seemed to transfer the permanence and strength of that solid floor, into my body.

And as I held that picture in my mind; I was able to push myself with such force, belief, and internal power, during my last few repetitions, that I may have completed one of the best workouts of my life.

Try this:

Look around yourself before beginning your next exercise session. Pick out an object that represents, in your mind, something more radiant, powerful, or permanent than yourself. It could be a tree, a stone, even the sun; anything that, simply by looking at it, inspires a deep feeling of ‘awe,’ in you.

Now, as you’re doing sets of squats, push-ups, pull-ups, crunches and the like, imagine your body is made of the same ‘stuff’ that makes up the object you’ve chosen. During squats, imagine your legs immovable as a tree of oak. During push-ups, imagine your arms as strong as steel cables. During crunches, imagine your core as solid as a pillar of concrete.

I believe there is a deep truth in using this technique; a truth that is not visible to the ‘naked eye.’ In fact, we now know that there is very little that separates us from all we see around us. The only reason a rock feels more solid than my body is that the atoms from which it is made are vibrating at a different speed than my own.

So is it unfathomable for me to imagine I’m made of, as great author W. Wattles (The Science of Getting Rich) once said, the same ‘thinking stuff’ that makes up the rest of the universe? Is it inconceivable for me to view myself as powerful as that upon which I choose to focus my attention? Even something as solid as a tree or a pillar of stone?

I think not!

Imagine yourself as that which is solid, permanent, unbreakable. Picture yourself as bright and beautiful as the sun! View your body as made of concrete and steel. Imagine yourself as long-lasting and strong as the oak. Do this during your workout. Push yourself to the limits of your physical ability.

And your vision may become physical truth.

Want to stay healthy, athletic, and cleansed for life from the inside out? Exercise daily! Eat fresh fruit. And forget about ‘blood sugar issues!’

I just watched an excellent video, on fruit and its effect on blood sugar, by the great raw vegan, Loren Lockman. In it, he makes the case that there are ‘no fresh fruits that have a ‘high glycemic load.’

Fresh fruit, eaten by itself, will not cause blood sugar problems! It is only when that fruit is combined with a high-fat diet that its natural sugars become trapped in the bloodstream and are not delivered efficiently to our cells.

Dr. D. Graham, who has worked with numerous diabetics over a 25-year span, claims in his excellent The 80-10-10 Diet that, ‘without exception,’ a raw fruit diet supplemented with edible leafy greens results in reliably stable blood sugar levels, when fat intake is kept to a minimum.

Ah yes; his contention is corroborated, among others, by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, wherein researchers Anderson and Ward (1979) state, ‘Medical research confirms that up to 50% of people with Type 2 diabetes can eliminate diabetes risks and discontinue medication within three weeks by adopting a low-fat, plant food diet and regular daily exercise.’

Eat fruit; avoid large amounts of fat, and you shall do very well with a raw vegan diet!

How to eat fruit the right way for true health:

*Dried fruits, stripped of their natural, living waters, and eaten in large quantities may cause ‘spikes’ in blood sugar. Avoid masses of dates, raisins, and other dried fruits. Eat these as occasional snacks in small ‘doses.’

*Fruit eaten by one with an unclean digestive tract tends to cause an internal ‘house cleaning.’ This can result in flu-like symptoms as raw plant fibers from fruit begin to scrub years of built up toxins from the digestive system. Of course, this process is often looked upon as a negative; when it should be seen as a positive thing; a temporary sweeping of dirt from the bodily ‘temple,’ to make it beautiful again! Eat fruit. Expect a ‘house cleaning’ if your body is toxic. And enjoy the cleansed, vibrant result when it’s finished!

*Fruit eaten in combination with other foods may cause bloating or indigestion. This is because fruit is digested in the colon, and not the stomach. It bypasses the stomach and enters the digestive tract in 20 to 30 minutes, where its vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids are assimilated into the bloodstream. If it is combined with other food types, it may be ‘held up’ in the stomach and ferment in that hot environment. Eat fruit by itself, and there is no problem. It can even be combined with edible leafy greens, like spinach, into one of the most delicious, nourishing foods on earth; the ‘green smoothie!’

Let us remember, as H. Diamond points out in Fit For Life, that there is just one food on earth that supplies the five essential elements needed by the human body, in their ideal percentages (glucose 90%, amino acids 4-5%, minerals 3-4%, fatty acids, about 1%, and vitamins, about 1%).

That’s fruit!

Yes, there’s a reason why Johns Hopkins U., anthropologist, Dr. A. Walker, has concluded that every hominid creature in the 12-million year period leading up to Homo Erectus has been identified (via teeth striation study) as a fruit-eater! Not a ‘hunter-gatherer!’

That reason? We are designed, from our teeth to our digestive systems, to thrive off the fruit of the tree. We are nearly identical to our ‘cousins in nature,’ the gorilla, the great ape, and the chimpanzee; with whom we share over 99% genes, as well as nearly identical nutrient needs, digestive systems, teeth structure, and more…

And they suffer plenty of ‘blood sugar issues,’ obesity, ‘protein deficiencies,’ and premature aging, right? (not, lol)

So: Eat plenty of fruit. In fact, make it the main staple of your diet for optimum health; just as the gorilla does! Do not consume too much fat. Go for about a handful of nuts or seeds per day. Keep dates and other dehydrated fruits to a minimum. Eat fruit by itself; not with other food types.

Do this, and ye shall enjoy vibrant, true health, from the inside out!

View the L. Lockman video here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLtxghNXB1w (copy/paste link to your browser).

Ah yes; combine that high fruit diet with vigorous, daily, body-weight exercise sessions, for best results. See: http://thesuperfitvegan.com/.

And be a super-fit, vegan ‘machine,’ you shall!

Don’t swat the fly. Open the screen door and let him out. Find out why, in poem:

It was Tolstoy who claimed, ‘as long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be battlefields.’ And Pythagoras, who stated that ‘as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seeds of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love.’

And was it M. Gandhi who claimed, ‘the most violent weapon on earth is the table fork?’

Yes!

And certainly, as Man’s addiction to flesh ‘foods’ has grown since these great thinkers’ deaths, his propensity for violence toward his fellow Man has seen no decrease.

Yet can we say without doubt that Man’s treatment of animal, leads to an inevitable lack of empathy toward his fellow Man?

Let’s find out, by reading a bit of verse I’ve just penned; called The ‘Grander Plan.’

You crush the ant, you swat the fly.

You catch the fish, and fell the bird in the sky.

You kill the tiny creature, then fowl, deer, or bear.

And thus become accustomed, to end life without care.

Where if you’d learned as children, to treat All as you would be,

You’d open cages, pens, and doors; and set these beings free.

And cat, or horse, or dog? More! What of your fellow Man?

Will you take aim at All? To serve some ‘Grander Plan?’

Am I telling you to never swat a fly? Am I choosing to judge any man who steps upon the ant? And what about hunting ‘game?’

Could it be that practices such as these result in a general lack of empathy, built from a habitual, ‘dealing of death?’

I can say I believe this is what Tolstoy, Pythagoras, and Gandhi were suggesting; not that swatting the fly leads to inevitable murder of larger and, perhaps, more ‘sentient,’ creatures. Only that a lack of empathy toward creatures of all shapes and sizes tends to breed additional, as Pythagoras stated, ‘seeds of murder and pain.’

Would you not rather sow seeds of joy? Would you not, rather see a world of growth and freedom? Rather than one of death, degradation and slavery?

Open the screen door. Let the fly out. Re-direct the ant. Let the bird from his cage. Cancel your trip to ‘hunt game.’ Rather, ‘fight’ for a world of freedom. Build empathy, not a lack of it.

Then will the world be a ‘grander’ place? Might even Man treat his fellow Man in a new, more productive way?

Treat All as you would be treated, and it shall be so!

‘Hey I’m Eating Tons of Fruits and Veggies, AND Working Out Daily—And I’m Still Gaining Weight! What Should I Do?’

Yes, I’ve had this EXACT question asked of me by several clients and friends; three, in fact, in just the past week!

So, what’s the problem? If these people are, in fact, ‘eating tons of fruits and vegetables’ AND getting in great daily workouts, how in the heck could they possibly be staying at their current weight—or, in some cases, even gaining a few pounds?

Well, I think I’ve got the answer; and what to do about this—’riddle.’

If this ‘might be you’ asking this question, then ask yourself the following:

One, ‘Am I having sufficient elimination?’ If you’re eating a good 75 to 80% raw plant foods, then you should be having at least 2 to 3 bowel movements daily. All that raw plant fiber is scrubbing the ‘dirt’ around your body’s interior ‘floor.’ But the dirt must leave your ‘house’ by some means. This happens through elimination.

Without proper elimination, you’ll feel bloated and heavy. And you’ll certainly retain unhealthy weight, that should be going into the toilet! What to do about this? Each night before bed, take an herbal laxative tea or supplement, containing Cascara Sagrada and Senna Leaf. This will help to loosen impacted ‘dirt’ from your digestive tact. Follow in the morning with 2 to 3 teaspoons of Epsom Salt (magnesium sulfate), taken with several glasses pure water.

You’ll be on the toilet, eliminating like ‘crazy,’ in no time. And you’ll drop unhealthy weight, fast. Follow this system until your body fully acclimates to a high raw plant-food diet. You’ll know this is happening when you begin to have 2 to 3 eliminations on your own each day.

Until that time, however, DO NOT allow yourself to remain bloated or constipated. Use the herbal laxative and epsom salt system to ‘keep things moving.’

Two, ‘Am I really going as hard as I can during my workouts?’ Most people are not. If you’re not pushing yourself to the ‘outer limits’ of your physical endurance, you’re not giving your body a reason to adapt to new levels of ’stress’ placed on it. And it’s your body’s adaptation to increased stress which causes fat-burning and muscle growth to occur.

What’s the best way to force this to happen, naturally? It is with daily, tough, demanding calisthenic workouts. Alternate between sets of body-weight squats, push-ups, crunches, pull-ups, and the like, for a good 30 minutes each morning. You’ll be dripping sweat like ‘mad,’ releasing natural human growth hormone, burning fat like ‘crazy,’ and building lean muscle tissue.

Plus, you’ll have fun with a great simple workout that can be done anywhere you can stand. You’ll drop all unhealthy weight, AND get into the best shape of your life in the process. A great ‘deal,’ in every way!

Three, ‘Am I only concerned about weight, when I really should be concerned about overall health and fitness?’ A great question. Too often, I’ve found, people tend to focus on their body-weight on the scale, rather than its overall level of health and fitness.

Remember this: Muscle weighs more than fat! So as you burn off unhealthy fat, and replace it with lean muscle—you may not actually lose weight. In fact, you may even gain a few pounds!

Yet take a good, long look at yourself in the mirror after doing vigorous calisthenic workouts every day, for a month or two. You’ll be lean, athletic, well-muscled, and free of all excess body-fat.

Yes, you may actually weigh the same as when you started on a healthy vegan diet and body-weight fitness plan. But you’ll be a totally different person—and a lean, athletic one at that! So you do NOT, in my opinion, need to be overly concerned about weight.

Rather, do this instead:

First, keep your digestive system cleansed and pure. Do this by drinking plenty of pure water, eating a high raw, plant-based diet, and limiting anything that is not a raw fruit, vegetable, nut or seed. Add herbal laxatives and epsom salt to ‘get things moving’ if you’re feeling bloated or constipated.

Second, do vigorous calisthenic sessions. Go for 30 minutes a day, minimum. In fact, if you really want to see the most awesome, fit you, in ‘record time,’ go for 45 to 60 minutes each morning.

And third, don’t overly concern yourself with your weight. Focus instead upon a completely, fit, healthy body, instead. You’ll be in a much better place, both physically and mentally.

Do all this and you’ll create a whole new you from the inside out. And you’ll never have to concern yourself with the ‘weight issue,’ again.

To sum it up:

‘What should I do if I’m eating a healthy, high-raw vegan diet, exercising a ton, and STILL NOT LOSING WEIGHT?’ The answer? Eliminate; in toilet, that is; consistently. Exercise, vigorously; daily, that is. And, don’t focus on weight but overall health, instead! Works like ‘magic!’ Guaranteed!

Take a guess at how a flea is trained for a ‘circus.’ He is placed inside a jar. A lid is placed on top. He then hits his head as he leaps for his freedom; and soon learns, ‘if I only jump so high, I won’t hit my head.

His ‘trainer’ can take the lid off the jar; and his flea will only jump so high, for the remainder of his life.

And the ‘flea trainer,’ sits back, relaxes, saying to himself, ‘Ah, look at my little friend. He shall be in this place, forever. I have trained him well.’

Is this what has happened to Man? Has he allowed himself to be manipulated into a position of subservience? Has he allowed a few, to control many? Has he made a prison of his world, which might have been a paradise?

Let’s find out…

‘FLEA AND JAR’

You place a flea inside a jar.

You watch him jump toward the stars.

Then place a lid atop your cup.

He hits his head as he flies up.

Remove the lid from atop your jar.

Now he leaps yet just so far.

He may strike his head, and is afraid.

This, in truth’s how slaves are made.

They learn to leap yet just so high.

From early youth until they die.

Yet if they knew the lid was gone.

They’d leap to freedom and beyond.

Man is a servant of his government; when he might be its master. He is a slave to his addictions; of poisonous foods, mindless entertainment, and endless distraction. He is a serf to his desires; where if he tamed them, he might be free, to reach a potential he has never known.

Does he need examples of freedom to rise from his midst? Does be need men and women who live lives rooted in honesty, virtue, and pure health; before he can rise again, above his slavery?

Likely so.

Question all authority. Live in simplicity, and purity of mind and body. Enjoy silence. Treat others as you would be treated. Exercise vigorously, daily. Consume plants not beings; this will keep your body and heart pure. Treat your body as your ally, not your enemy, and it shall be so.

And you may be the one who leaps beyond, when the lid comes off the jar.

What To Do If Your Surroundings Are NOT What You Hoped For? The Super-Fit Vegan Way To Do Well In ANY Environment:

I was under a bit of self-imposed stress on my way to my current vacation. I forgot a box of contact lenses. I also wanted to keep up my regular writing, AND exercise schedule, while at the same time, trying to enjoy the local scenery, fruits, other vegan foods, beaches, and more. Oh and I forgot to bring one of my notebooks full of writing ideas. I was also concerned about where I’d get non-fluoridated water.

I’m in Phuket, Thailand; which is one great place to be if you’re ‘into’ a fruitarian, or near-fruitarian, diet. Also, one heck of an awesome place to enjoy, if you love pristine beaches, barefoot or sandal-clad (my personal favorite) running, and great body-weight workouts.

I should have, as I checked into my hotel, been overjoyed! Yet instead, my mind was elsewhere.

I was focused upon everything that seemed to be going ‘wrong,’ on my trip. I was thinking about ‘minutia,’ such as contact lenses, notebooks, and fluoridated water—which, granted, can be a problem—but not one I’ve ever NOT been able to work around in the past. If I can’t find poison-free water, I just consume none at all, and focus instead upon 100% fruit and vegetable juice, made with a cheap, portable blender.

So I had quite a few ‘self-imposed,’ little stresses built up in my mind, upon arriving.

Then I checked into my hotel. The water was off due to a broken pipe. Plus, a hotel staff that was NOT in the best of moods, as they’d been harassed about the water situation for hours prior to my arrival. Plus, internet connection issues.

And the ‘last straw?’ The hotel is on the side of a steep hill. There’s almost zero open space on the grounds. And the balcony is tiny; not even large enough to get in a workout; another ‘pet peeve’ of mine.

At this point, I turned to my girlfriend and said, sarcastically, something like ‘water’s off, slow internet connection, and no space to get in a workout. Oh yeah, and walls wherever you turn. Is this what we signed up for when we booked this trip?’

In other words, I was focused upon ONLY the negatives of the situation. Her reaction to this?

‘Well you’ve just got to embrace it is all,’ she said.

That was enough. Which simply goes to show you that just your way of looking at a situation can make all the difference.

So the next morning I woke, and what happened? I found a pure source of drinking water. This took just a few minutes of actually looking for one. After searching around the hotel grounds, I found a spare, unused, wide open area in which to do my morning workouts. The water issue in the hotel was fixed. Yep, and the internet connection improved. And I was, with just a little bit of open-mindedness, able to schedule a good, productive work—and exercise— schedule, along with being able to enjoy my vacation.

Oh yes, and another benefit of the situation I hadn’t seen…

The hill on which the hotel is situated turned out to be an asset, an ally—NOT as I’d suspected, an ‘enemy.’ How so? Well, after a great calisthenic workout in the open area I’d found, we went for one he@l of a great sandal-clad run down that hill; then to the beach; one of the best upon which I’d ever run.

I ended up having one of the best workouts I’ve had in weeks; followed by coconut water, the best of which I’ve ever tasted.

I was worried about, literally, nothing. I was focused upon all the ‘negatives’ of my surroundings, when I should, obviously, have been focused upon the fact that I was in a place I’d wanted to visit for years. A place, by the way, that’s got some of the best, most inexpensive fruit in the world.

The ‘moral’ of the story? Rather than complaining, as I was in this case, about your surroundings; embrace them.

Do this, and they just may reveal to you, something incredibly enriching. Like a great hill run that pushes you to your physical potential.

Running in home-made sandals in Chiang Mai, Thailand. After 600 squats, push-ups, crunches!

T.C. Fry friend and fruitarian, South African, Essie Honiball, makes her case that the body may have an intuition all its own; and may regulate weight on a pure plant-food diet, in ways not yet understood by ‘civilized’ man…

Oh yes, Honiball is ‘no joke’ when it comes to the fruitarian diet. In 1971 she was the ‘center-piece’ of a study at the University of Pretoria. The study basically involved the monitoring of two control groups, both sick with numerous ailments. One group went on a fruit and nut diet; the other on a ‘conventional’ processed food and meat diet.

Guess which group ended up with vibrant health? The fruit-eaters, naturally. And the flesh-eaters? Well, their health continued to—not surprisingly to me anyway—deteriorate rapidly. And Honiball became an ‘overnight sensation’ and national celebrity.

Here’s her take, from her booklet I Live On Fruit, on the human body’s natural intelligence, with regard to weight regulation, while on a great, healthy, minimalistic, fruit-based diet…

‘It seems as though the fruit diet normalizes the body, and makes FAT PEOPLE THINNER AND THIN ONES FATTER, irrespective of the amounts of fruit eaten. For seven months my mass showed little change. In fact, I became thinner than I had been, and only then did the situation change. My mass suddenly started increasing WITHOUT ME CHANGING MY DIET IN THE LEAST and the increase carried on over a period of two to three years until it became consistent and has remained so till today.’

I’ve noticed this myself. I’ve gone on long periods, taking in nothing but fruits and their juices—and I’m talking low calories. And this was while doing 2 to three hour, totally intense, workouts every day; consisting of barefoot running and hundreds of calisthenics.

During these periods, I’ve noticed INCREASES in muscle mass, cardio-capacity, overall strength and energy. No losses of any type. And during one of these periods, lasting about three weeks, I ate primarily just apples and spinach!

I think my workouts, as I recall consisted of about 800 squats, 800 push-ups, and 800 crunches per day. Along with an added hour of barefoot running for ‘good measure.’ This, also, I did in Vegas, where, at the time, the average temperature hit about 100 degrees each day without a single cloud in sight, from morning to night.

So if cutting down on your calories were such a big deal; in fact if ‘counting calories’ were such a big deal; I think I’d have ‘wasted away’ long ago. I’ve been doing this for years and have only gotten stronger and faster; with better endurance.

So, could there, possibly, be something to Honiball’s contention? Her idea that the body has an innate intelligence and shall, on a great fruit-and-greens diet, regulate one’s weight to an ideal level?

I’m betting so.

Am I telling you to cut calories down to just apples and spinach for a few weeks? And combine that diet with the toughest workouts of your life? And then, you’ll be as fit as ever in your life at the end of that time?

Well, actually…YES!

This ‘strategy’—if one can call it that—works for me every time. And yes, I’ll go weeks, sometimes, on a lot less calories than is recommended by many raw food ‘gurus.’ While maintaining my same ‘crayzee’ workout protocol.

You can too. I’d ‘put money’ on it!

Try it for three weeks, and watch your inner health become cleanse, purified, totally vibrant! And watch your ‘outer self,’ your physical body get stronger, fitter, faster, more powerful in every way.

Without ‘counting calories.’

HOW TO TRANSCEND A COMPLEX WORLD; GET OTHERS TO FOLLOW YOU; AND GET THE UNIVERSE TO ACT IN THY FAVOR. WITH LAO TZU (combine with high to 100% raw vegan diet, and vigorous daily exercise, for best results):

Get the universe to ‘act,’ not by adding stuff into life, nor, by raising oneself; but by cutting ‘stuff’ out; by being willing to ‘lower’ oneself! By having the equivalent of a garage sale of body, of mind; by mastering that which is simple, ‘modest’ and ‘true.’ The mastery which, I believe, fits in, very well, with minimalistic tendencies, lifestyle, and ideals of raw veganism and simple, body-weight exercise! Lao Tzu…

‘…superior people can awaken during times of turmoil to lead others out of the mire.
But how can one liberate the many?

By first liberating his own being.

He does this not by elevating himself, but by lowering himself.
He lowers himself to that which is simple, modest, true; integrating it into himself, he becomes a master of simplicity, modesty, truth.

Completely emancipated from his former false life, he discovers his original pure nature, which is the pure nature of the universe.

Freely and spontaneously releasing his divine energy, he constantly transcends complicated situations and draws everything around him back into an integral oneness.

Because he is a living divinity, when he acts, the universe acts.’ (Lao Tzu)

T/Y to L. Tzu, wherever he may be! Great advice on value of simplicity, both to self, and to any who might seek to model one’s actions!!!

How to bring life into great realms of simplicity, as advocated by Tzu? How to get others to follow your example? How to get the ‘universe’ to act, in your favor?

Employ AT LEAST 15 to 20 minutes per day of vigorous body-weight exercise. Do it each morning before anything else ‘comes up!’ Make fruit and green smoothies the bulk of thy diet! Get to bed early, awaken early. Live each day with simplicity and vigor! Treat others—including ALL sentient beings—as you would be treated!

You shall be pleasantly surprised at how simple actions, such as these, swing momentum, very quickly, in thy favor; at how others—even strangers who you’ve just met—seem to know, intuitively that there is something different, something unique, something quite possibly, worth following, about you; and how good, fortuitous ‘coincidences’ seem to enter into thy life!

Jeff Sekerak

*Combine with high to 100% raw vegan diet, plus vigorous, daily, body-weight exercise, for best results* *method not intended for implementation by those advocating standard western, flesh-based, self-administered toxicity…er, uh…’diet’* (lol)

‘Get close’ to a chimp in the wild…

…No, I don’t mean physically close. I’m referring to getting close to him, in terms of what’s going into your mouth, ‘diet-wise.’ Why do this?

Well, let’s see…

The average, TV-watching, Wal-Mart shopping, fantasy-football playing, standard-western-diet consuming American is NOT doing well, health-wise. Not by a long shot. I was just glancing over CancerPreventionSociety.Org’s updated web page, which indicates that one in three people will get cancer in our lifetimes; a figure that, it’s estimated, will rise to one in two, or HALF THE POPULATION ON EARTH, by the year 2020; disturbing figures, to say the least. And that’s just cancer. Now add in heart disease, drug addictions, toxic food addictions, and all the other forms of modern-day, chronic human ailments, and well—not a very pretty picture is it?

Yet where are all the wild animals, getting ‘terminally ill.’ Where are, for example, all the chimps—with whom we share about 99.4% genes, almost identical digestive systems, and strikingly close nutrient needs—falling apart in their natural habitats? Where are all the chimpanzees who look like they’re broken down, well into old age, when they should be in the prime of their lives?

Nowhere to be found, it seems. And why?

Well if I take a look at the inside cover of chimpanzee expert V. Boutenko’s excellent, Green for Life, I find a clue, staring me in the face; in the form of a couple of ‘pie’ charts. One shows the average chimp-in-wild diet: about half fruits, half green edible leaves, and a tiny percentage of pith, bark, and seeds. All raw, alkaline, nutrient-and-enzyme-rich plant foods; which keep the digestive tract clean and the blood pure.

The human ‘pie’ chart? Horrific. About half cooked, starchy, digestive-system-clogging breads, pastas, and other refined carbohydrate products; another MASSIVE portion of toxic, poisonous, animal ‘foods;’ and a small, pittance of fruits and vegetables. The majority of the human ‘civilized’ diet? Cooked, acid-forming, nutrient-and-enzyme-depleted, processed foods, which are da@#-near guaranteed to keep the digestive system and bloodstream in a state of toxic overload.

Is it any wonder that we are suffering, while animals in the wild, like chimps, who resemble us closely, are not? I don’t think so. Yet how do we remedy this?

My vote: By getting ‘close to the chimp.’ How? …

By consuming a diet which mirrors his; one of about half edible green leaves, half fruits, and a small amount of nuts or seeds. When we do this, a type of magic happens. The digestive tract is cleansed with raw fiber. Poisons are removed, and end up in the toilet. Nutrients are delivered in their raw, natural form. And a state of health so often replaces one of illness.

If you doubt this, just pick up a copy of Green for Life, and read the story of Victoria Boutenko’s family, ‘terminally ill’ with a variety of ailments—and now vibrantly healthy and alive, due to their adherence to a ‘chimp-like’ lifestyle. There are about 50 pages of testimonials as well—outside of the Boutenko family story—at the end of the book. If these true stories don’t convince you to start adding more fruits and veggies to your diet, you are likely a hopeless case.

So. How to get ‘close’ to the chimp, and fast:

Begin each day by consuming ONLY water-and-nutrient-rich fruits or green smoothies. Don’t consume anything but these until noon. I just made a great smoothie this morning, of pure water, banana, papaya, and mango—one of the best foods I’ve ever tasted! And plenty to fuel my morning workout, which today, was 500 squats, 500 push-ups, and a five-mile run in sandals. Eat only fruits or smoothies before noon, and you’ll feel totally light, satisfied, and energized until lunch.

Do the same thing for lunch, fruits and green smoothies; add in a handful of nuts or seeds if still hungry; or a green leaf salad with nuts, seeds, and a bit of avocado.

For dinner, again consume fruits, or green smoothies. Wait 20 to 30 minutes for those foods to leave the stomach and enter the digestive tract. Ideally, consume ONLY a large, green leaf salad after this.

If you feel you need more, add ONE denser food item to your evening meal; like organic brown rice or quinoa. Or organic sprouted beans, like lentils or pintos. No there are no chimps, of which I’m aware, eating these denser items, like beans or rice, in the wild—however, I want to give you an option or two to keep you on the fit, vegan path, so that you do not even CONSIDER a meat-based diet, EVER AGAIN! ‘Denser food’ options, like organic beans or brown rice, will keep you full and satisfied, keep your digestive tract far cleaner and healthier than if you were consuming animal ‘foods,’ and go a long way toward making sure you keep your diet a highly healthy, plant-based, cruelty-free one; for life!

Over time, do your absolute best to MINIMIZE grains, beans, and such denser foods. Think of them as transition foods to the ideal ‘chimp diet.’ Which should be ours as well!

Every nutrient that the human body requires—every vitamin, mineral, amino acid, and essential fatty acid—can be found in fruits, vegetables, nuts or seeds. You don’t need anything else to thrive. The chimp in the wild can do it. As can you. Be like him and your body will thank you, many times over.

You can even make it a psychological and physical game, to see how many days you can go, WITHOUT consuming anything but fruits, green smoothies, and salads. You’ll get better and better at this as you go.

And you’ll feel lighter, more energetic. Your trips to the bathroom will be more ‘regular.’ You’ll sleep more deeply. You’ll have more strength for vigorous exercise. Unwanted pounds will melt from your body. Start doing this RIGHT NOW, and you’ll be pleasantly amazed at your progress in just a few, short weeks. Do this for a month or two, and you’ll begin to be vibrantly healthy and alive; as healthy and alive as an animal in the wild.

You’ll enter a place wherein, your body becomes an ally to be trusted, again, instead of an enemy to be questioned.

Get a copy of Green for Life. Keep at bedside table. Read a bit each night for 30 days, for best results!

My beloved copy of The Unknown Teachings of Lao Tzu

‘Ask and Answer’ with Lao Tzu, for the Super-Fit Vegan:

‘Do not go about worshiping deities and religious institutions as the source of the subtle truth. To do so is to place intermediaries between yourself and the divine, and to make of yourself a beggar who looks outside for a treasure that is hidden inside his own breast.’

Lao Tzu, circa sixth century B.C. And yes, he is writing, here, of the necessity to trust your own intuition; your own instincts; your own ability to evaluate information—with regard to ‘the divine.’

Yet could his advice be useful with regard to your personal level of health and fitness?

Absolutely, I believe.

Particularly in today’s age, with such a mass of information coming at the average, health-seeking individual from so many angles—internet, TV, print media, radio, etc. And much of this information is touted by self-proclaimed fitness ‘gurus,’ as though it were ABSOLUTE FACT, when in reality, it may be little more than…’guesswork.’ Guesswork by some who may have a lot more interest in the amount of money you might spend with them, rather than your personal level of fitness.

How many fitness gadgets fail to provide what has been said in favor of them? How many weight-loss plans fail to deliver on their promised benefits? How many questionable, at best, books have been written about the subject of achieving super-fitness, for life? Thousands. Literally.

And in reality one, at some point, must simply ask him or herself this question:

‘Does it take anything OUTSIDE OF MY SELF, TO BE IN SUPER-HEALTHY CONDITION, FROM THE INSIDE OUT?’ If you answer truthfully, I’m betting your answer is no. Remember when you were a child, full of energy, strength, and vibrant health? Did you need fitness gadgets, weight loss plans, machines, or weights? No. In fact, to achieve and maintain vibrant health, YOU NEEDED ABSOLUTELY NOTHING OUTSIDE OF YOURSELF.

Years ago now, I asked myself this question. My intuitive answer was ‘no.’ My solution was to go back to the simplest, most compassionate, and cleanest diet known to Man; the raw vegan one; which does NOT include drugs, masses of supplements, or much at all in the way of ‘exterior’ solutions—almost nothing outside of one self, but water-rich, nutrient-dense fruits; also, to go back to the simplest and most efficient form of exercise known to Man; body-weight exercise; using no gadgets, no gimmicks. Not even weights.

The result? My answer and chosen solution has got me into better shape than I’ve ever been in my life. You can do the same. It takes nearly NOTHING outside of yourself to do it. And I’m betting Lao Tzu, were he here, would agree with me.

All you have to do is be willing to ask the question. Wait for your intuition—which is rarely, if ever wrong—to answer. Then act.

And what better time to ‘ask and answer,’ than right now?
